Halliburton's prison camps in America
Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR), a Halliburton subsidiary, has been awarded a $385 million contract to construct a huge facility at an undisclosed location to hold tens of thousands of Bush's "unlawful enemy combatants." Americans are certain to be among them.
Sort of reminds us of REX 84 (Rediness Exercise 1984). The Military Commissions Act of 2006, is yet another step toward our supression. Anyone who donates money to a charity that turns up on Bush's list of "terrorist" organizations, or who speaks out against the government's policies could be declared an "unlawful enemy combatant" and imprisoned indefinitely. That includes American citizens.
We can expect the Bush Administration to continue to exploit 9/11 to strip us of more of our liberties. Our constitutional right to dissent is in serious jeopardy. Benjamin Franklin's prescient warning should give us pause: "They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security." Via AlterNet

For all intent and purpose, the MCA strips away a person's right to Habeas Corpus.
Very reminiscent of what we heard about opression in the USSR during the Cold War.
Also stinks a lot like "Hitlerian" theory.

Heck America is a prison camp made of couches already. If a person is too comfortable to stand up and prevent Congress and the President from taking away their freedom, then why even bother build extra prisons?
Oh wait yes people are beginning to notice their freedom was removed in the patriot act and other following laws passed.
At least they will have a place to throw those who begin to complain. I hear the new facilities even come with a few extra couches.

And the Bush Admin's current forgein and domestic policies are very reminiscent of many regimes throughout history.
People need to read more history, I think if people would take some more time to investigate and educate themselves they would realize the imperialistic nature of U.S. administrations over time.

I know it is dated. The announcment of this contract came on in January 2006. However, tehre are MANY people who stil do not know about this. And I don't think it's a coincidence that it is very hush hush.
I hadn't heard about this, thanks for posting it. There's so much crap the Bush administration has going on, it's hard to keep track of it all. I'll be watching for news on it.
Hell, I only found out about it this week and I DO try to stay informed.
